What is the Himali (Himalb) Font?
The Himali font (often distributed as Himalb or PCS Himali) is a classic legacy Devanagari typeface widely used across Nepal in the late 1990s and 2000s for literary journals, poetry books, and early administrative documents. Characterized by rounded ascenders and traditional calligraphy strokes, Himali provided a warm, traditional feel compared to mechanical typewriter fonts.
Like Preeti, however, Himali is encoded as an 8-bit ASCII font. Any text written in Himali cannot be read on smartphones, shared on social media, or indexed by Google unless it is first translated into standardized Unicode Devanagari (UTF-8).
