Unicode Standards Explained: Devanagari Code Points Index

📅 Published: 2026-07-06 ✍️ Author: Rajesh Tarar (Devanagari Localization Specialist)

Official Devanagari Code Range

The Unicode Consortium reserves the block U+0900 to U+097F for Devanagari. It is used to index vowels, consonants, numbers, and diacritics for languages like Nepali, Hindi, and Sanskrit.

Collation and Sorting

Unicode defines standard sorting regulations, enabling search engines and databases to collate Nepali words alphabetically, which was impossible with legacy ASCII codes.
