Configuring Devanagari Typing inside Adobe InDesign CC

📅 Published: 2026-07-08 ✍️ Author: Rajesh Tarar (Devanagari Localization Specialist)

Devanagari Rendering in InDesign

Adobe InDesign is the industry standard for book and newspaper design in Nepal. However, older versions of the app struggle to display standard Unicode characters correctly. Follow these steps to configure InDesign for Devanagari.

Configuration Steps

  1. Enable the 'World-Ready Paragraph Composer' in InDesign.
  2. Select a standard Unicode font like Mangal or Kokila.
  3. If your print shop only supports legacy formats, convert your text using a Unicode to Preeti Converter first.
